Warm Laba Porridge, Warm Hearts — Sending Festival Blessings to Inpatients
2026-01-31

“Children, children, don't be greedy; after Laba comes the New Year.” The Laba Festival marks the prelude to the New Year and carries wishes for reunion and well-being. Early on January 26, bowls of carefully prepared, steaming Laba porridge were delivered by medical staff to the wards. This festive gift was intended to bring a warm greeting to patients undergoing treatment and to their hardworking family caregivers.

In the wards, the fragrance of porridge filled the air, adding a touch of warmth to the environment. Medical staff greeted patients softly and handed bowls of porridge to them. “Auntie, today is Laba. Have a bowl of porridge to warm your stomach. We wish you a speedy recovery.” “Uncle, be careful, it's hot. We'll spend the festival with you.” ... Simple conversations and sincere smiles filled the wards with warmth.

For inpatients, the journey of treatment requires great courage and perseverance. What they need is not only professional medical care, but also emotional comfort and spiritual encouragement. This small bowl of Laba porridge carries our heartfelt care for patients, and we hope to accompany them through treatment with these small moments of warmth.

It is “heart-warming” companionship: on a traditional festival, it lets patients feel the warmth of being remembered and eases the loneliness of hospitalization.

It is “stomach-warming” care: considering patients' nutritional needs and physical conditions, we paid special attention to the selection and combination of ingredients when preparing the Laba porridge, ensuring it was soft, glutinous, and easy to digest while conveying thoughtful health care.

It is also a “body-warming” belief: through this warm gesture, we want to tell every patient that during hospitalization, you are never alone. We are willing to do all we can to provide medical assistance and emotional support.

This activity also allowed medical staff to have a warm interaction with patients during their intense clinical work. Seeing the smiles of patients and their families helped us more deeply understand the meaning of “sometimes cure, often help, always comfort.”

Laba porridge symbolizes auspiciousness, health, and completeness. Through porridge, we convey affection, entrusting it with attentive care and wishes for an early recovery. May this festive warmth accompany everyone through the cold winter and into a vibrant spring.
