Heartwarming Mid-Autumn Festival, Warm Care for Patients
On the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the moon grows fuller and feelings grow warmer. On the morning of September 25, the wards at Uni-Asia Hospital’s Zigong Campus (Zigong High-Tech Cancer Hospital) were free of the melancholy of“missing one’s family even more during festive seasons”; instead, they were filled with warmth. Lin Xingmei, Secretary of the Party Branch, led administrative staff in personally delivering mooncakes, each carrying wishes for reunion, to every patient in the hospital. Along with the festive greetings, they brought the care and concern of the entire hospital right to patients’bedsides.

As she entered each ward, Secretary Lin bent down to speak softly with patients, asking about their treatment progress and encouraging them to cooperate with treatment with peace of mind. She said that cancer treatment is a long battle, and patients should never be left feeling alone—especially during festivals. The hospital always keeps patients close to heart. Though a box of mooncakes may be small, it carries the whole hospital’s commitment to“never give up on any patient.”From clinical care to administration, the work of care continues through the holiday, and the hospital’s commitment to safeguarding health never wavers.

As the mooncakes were placed in their hands, warmth filled the patients’hearts.“I was thinking I’d video-call my family and have a mooncake with them, but I never expected you to bring one right to my bedside,”one patient said with a smile, their eyes curving into crescents. Family members repeatedly expressed their thanks, and the ward soon came alive with conversation. Everyone chatted together, almost like one big family celebrating the festival. Outside, the daylight was bright, falling on the white pillows and on the smiling faces throughout the ward.

During this festival that celebrates reunion, the hospital did not let its care remain mere words. A box of mooncakes, a greeting, and a conversation at a patient’s bedside not only brought patients and medical staff closer, but also embodied, in the smallest everyday moments, the hospital’s philosophy of“Creating Miracles, Serving Humanity.”May every patient staying in the hospital carry this warmth with them and move steadily toward their next reunion.
